Hydrangea question?

I have just recently purchased a hydrangea. It is small right now. I live in michigan and was wondering how big my shrub will get this summer ? will it stay small and take a long time to get big or will it get big really fast??

Hydrangea question?
Depends on the fertility of the soil, the situation(i.e,shaded or in full sun) and the quality of the plant.

Suggest applying a dressing of compost when the soil is moist, keep the hydrangea watered, without drowning it and feed with any proprietary liquid fertilizer.

Rise out used wire wool pan scourers, place on the soil and they'll help to "blue" the flowers.

Leave dead flower heads on in the autumn, this will protect new growth.
Reply:I also live in Michigan. I have a hydrangea that I planted and the first 2 years it grew a little. Maybe 1-2 ft tall. This will be my 3rd year and i'm hoping it will grow a little bigger. Im sure it factors in all the soil, fertilizers, weather. If you want something that grows fast, choose the pussy willow. I got it when it was about 2 ft tall and scrawny. By the 3rd summer it bushed out and I could no longer reach the top. Now it is about 15 ft tall after about 5-6 yrs.
Reply:it wont grow very big in the first year, if the weathers good it might get to one metre
