Is a hydrangea leaf poison to a dog (chihuahua dog)?

She is vomiting. I don't know when she ate it or how much she ate. In her bed were pieces of leaves and she has vomited like four times in about 5 min. She is 6 months old. What can I give her? Thank you. = (

DO not give it 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide. My Shih Tzu, when she was 6 months old and about 6 pounds, ate part of a stargazer lily and I called the vet and he said to give her 1/2 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide to make her throw up. If your dog has already thrown up, I'd just watch her and if her condition doesn't improve (like stop throwing up) then she needs to go to the vet. And when you start to feed her again, give her cooked rice mixed with boiled hamburger or boiled chicken breasts. Please go to the ASPCA web site for a list of plants that are poisonous to dogs and other animals.
Reply:YES!

The hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla) is best known for its flowers, which change color from pink to blue when planted in soils of different pH. It has large, round, flat leaves that seem to grow in layers, with balled mounds of flowers rising above them to a height of four feet. All parts of the hydrangea are poisonous, containing cyanide-producing substances.

How To Treat?? : first fill the dog's stomach with soft food to prevent damage from attempting to vomit on an empty stomach. Then she suggests giving the dog two tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide by mouth; the dog should vomit within 20 minutes. This measure can be repeated once if the first attempt does not induce vomiting. The NAPCC does not recommend Ipecac syrup or Epsom salts, due to possible side effects in dogs, although some veterinarians believe these medicines are appropriate treatments.

If the incident occurred more than an hour ago, or if the dog is starting to show signs of poisoning, I advise taking it immediately to your veterinarian.

Hope This Helps :)
