Hydrangea help!!!!?

I got my mom a hydrangea for Mother's Day. So far, it has been doing excellent. I keep it inside at night, and let it get some sun during the day (probably about 7-8 hours). I water it constantly.

This morning, I put it outside before work, and I watered it. When I got home, after 7 hours, it was wilted and the soil was completely dry -- I was shocked!!! Is there any hope for the hydrangea? I just watered it again (substantially more than before) and put it inside. Apparently it needs a lot more water than I've been giving it, which is strange, because I thought that if I watered it any more, it would drown. I guess it's called a 'hydra'ngea for a reason.

Will it come back to life if I keep a constant eye on it and keep the soil moist at ALL times from now on? (I was literally shocked that it was all dried out this evening, because I watered it a lot this morning... and I live in the north, so it was only about 65 degrees albeit sunny outside).

Hydrangea help!!!!?
It should come back. I have three planted in my back yard and they wilt in the summer if I don't water them enough. After I water them they perk up within about 20 minutes. Now if yours were wilted for too long they may not come back. It all depends on how long they were wilted.

If you plant them outside put peat moss in the hole and then mulch heavily around them. The peat moss retains moisture and the mulch will keep the water from evaporating as fast. Be sure to plant in a fairly shaded area. Mine are planted nest the house on the north side...they only get direct sun for 3-4 hours in the very late evening in the summer.
Reply:Yes, you have a good chance of success. You must soak it in a bucket of water for 2-3 day to really hydrate it. Do it outside!! Then plant it in a mixture of 75% peatmoss and I would suggest miracle grow moisture control soil @ 25%. You will get good growth and flowers from this combo in any area.
Reply:I cannot say if it will come back as I cannot see it but as far as watering goes try putting it in a container of water. Leave it for about half an hour then take it out and discard the remaining water. This way you can be sure of penetrating the compost and watering thoroughly.
Reply:yes. i see some that are so wilted they lost all their leaves by the end on the summer, but come up the next year
